Pellet: A practical OWL-DL reasoner
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we present a brief overview of Pellet: a complete OWL-DL reasoner with acceptable to very good performance, extensive iddleware, and a number of unique features. Pellet is the first sound and complete OWL-DL reasoner with extensive support for reasoning ith individuals (including nominal support and conjunctive query), user-defined datatypes, and debugging support for ontologies. It implements everal extensions to OWL-DL including a combination formalism for OWL-DL ontologies, a non-monotonic operator, and preliminary support or OWL/Rule hybrid reasoning. Pellet is written in Java and is open source.

DLEJena: A practical forward-chaining OWL 2 RL reasoner combining Jena and Pellet
This paper describes DLEJena, a practical reasoner for the OWL 2 RL profile that combines the forward-chaining rule engine of Jena and the Pellet DL reasoner. This combination is based on rule templates, instantiating at run-time a set of ABox OWL 2 RL/RDF Jena rules dedicated to a particular TBox that is handled by Pellet. The goal of DLEJena is to handle efficiently, through instantiated rule...
متن کاملSPARQL-DL: SPARQL Query for OWL-DL
There are many query languages (QLs) that can be used to query RDF and OWL ontologies but neither type is satisfactory for querying OWL-DL ontologies. RDF-based QLs (RDQL, SeRQL, SPARQL) are harder to give a semantics w.r.t. OWL-DL and are more powerful than what OWL-DL reasoners can provide. DL-based QLs (DIG ask queries, nRQL) have clear semantics but are not powerful enough in the general ca...
متن کاملPellet: An OWL DL Reasoner
Reasoning capability is of crucial importance to many applications developed for the Semantic Web. Description Logics provide sound and complete reasoning algorithms that can effectively handle the DL fragment of the Web Ontology Language (OWL). However, existing DL reasoners were implemented long before OWL came into existence and lack some features that are essential for Semantic Web applicat...
متن کاملOptimizing Description Logic Reasoning with Nominals: First Results
OWL-DL is a World Wide Web Consortium standard for representing ontologies on the Semantic Web. It can be seen as a syntactic variant of the Description Logic SHOIN (D), with an OWL-DL ontology corresponding to a SHOIN (D) knowledge base. The very recent accomplishment of a decision procedure for SHOIN (D) poses the challenge of turning the decision procedure into a practical implementation. In...
متن کاملImplementing OWL Defaults
While it has been argued that knowledge representation for the World Wide Web must respect the open world assumption due to the “open” nature of the Web, users of the Web Ontology Language (OWL) have often requested some form of non-monotonic reasoning. In this paper, we present preliminary optimizations and an implementation of a restricted version of Reiter’s default logic as an extension to ...
